I thought that I had posted Sat night and Sunday afternoon but I don't see the n progress pics.
Thanks to Ron and Dean my car looks like a car again. I still have a few trim pcs to install before posting the link to all of the "in progress" hi res photos.
I think it looks good Brian....can you try and pull the car outside and get some good clear pix with better light?? Hard to really see anything in detail.
Yes Dean, once it is together I will do just that. I am also taking a very detailed pictures with the home camera with a flash and they are turning out very well. I have not downloaded any of those to the computer yet I'm saving them for the finished product.
I put the door sills in this morning and really just have a few odds and ends to tidy up.
Thanks Dean. I have had to do many coats of dye and it looks better in the pics than it does in person. I need to mount the glove box and start measuring and marking. IIRC, the lid is tight and proper in the center, by the lock but droops down on each side. I will need to see if it is leaning/sagging towards the seat, and if so remove material/shave to properly line up with the dash.
Then measure the gap on the top side, towards each end. I will need to add material to level the top lip with the dash before recovering. It was suggested to use a PC of balsa wood which is very soft and easy to shape. If the gap is 1/4 " or less I may just use some shims that I have.
It will be next week before I touch it again. We are packing now for a short getaway.
Thank for all of your help.
Thanks for the kind words Guy. I have been following your 79 project as well. I am envious of your mechanical aptitude. I dread the next phase of this rehab ...... mechanical.
I have a m28/11 Euro S engine on a stand that needs to be completely refreshed and then installed in the 79. I cannot decide if that will be before or after paint.
It appears that neither will be a realistic option until spring time, financially speaking.
This is probably not the best picture but you get the idea of trying to correct the sag in the glove box cover. I hope to recover and have it tight and level when done.
After studying it more I really have no idea of how to recover the lid. There is really no underside to staple to.
