Tom,

I tried it in a loose 88 rear quarter here, and it fit. I need to test it on an actual car, but it sure looks like it will fit.

Thanks
Hans

I have an extra set of adapters and 6.5" subs if someone with a square grill car wants to give them a try.

oh, please pick me... please pick me!

I'd like to test and compare to the 12" Aura for thump.

As you know... all wires and amp very convenient and easy to switch.

Default B pillars Speakers

As an additional data point: I recently have replaced the B pillar speakers on my '89 and used a shallow one coaxial from Alpine. These are 4 Ohms, so I have not reconnected the hatch ones (that were toasted and everyone says are pretty useless), neither the tweeters.
Bought the pair from Best Buy, SKU # 5855342 and total price (pair) $99.99
I have had to do significant rework at the ring of the original speakers as per the initial thread here using dremmel and all that, end result os that you cannot say they are not the original ones unless you look really close inside the grills.

Alpine model is SXE1725S (I think S stands for shallow)

Hi,

I am also waiting for some solution for those round 6.5" speakers. I have now just two big holes in my interio. Do i need the original speaker ring for these new speakers or will the come with whole setup? If anyone has extra pair of round original speaker bottom rings let me know.

These use the factory 84-88 square grills. There is no simple solution for the 89+ round grills.

Update on adapters and 6.5 subs? I'm getting ready for a sound system install. No tunes sucks.

Art,

These have been available for some time. I have only sent out two sets though, not as much interest as originally anticipated. I have a set here if you are interested.

Thanks,
Hans

Hans I could use a set of the square adapters as I have an 87s4... Please let me know what the price is, if you happen to have a pic of them that would be Great as well.

Thx

Hans,
Will the adapter work with other 6.5 subs provided they don't mount to deep? I've used CDT subs on other projects and have been very happy with the bass output.
Thanks
