Default will maf with 1 wire broken work?

my 84 euro appears to have one of the 4 maf internal sensor wires diconnected at one side. How badly will this render it inaccurate?

There are 3 parts to the hot wire, but if one side if broken then it has no electrical output. You need an exchange rebuilt MAF....

wow. that price seems really reasonable. Oh wait, no it doesnt. Another classic example of how adding the Porsche name to a part makes the price soar to absurdity. so 650 for a MAF if you dont have one? A brand new ultra calibrated MAF for my mustang race car was half as much. wtf

if there are only 3 wires, then I may be ok. I am going to post a pic later or tomorrow.

Let me help you understand this. Literally millions of Mustang MAFs were manufactured, whereas maybe a 100 times lower volume of 928 MAFs was manufactured. Economics 101. There are some 928 parts that suffer from a sometimes ridiculous "Porsche tax", but the MAF is not one of them. Well, not unless you are buying a new one from a dealer.

One of these "hot" wires, or do you mean a wire in the connection harness?

I find his price quite reasonable.

How much was a new mustang at the time your car was made as a percentage of the Porsche 928 price?

This just isn't a Ford... stop thinking that way - or you will drive yourself nuts...

I have a Mustang; in fact I've had 3 of them, and I absolutely love them.
However...

NEVER confuse a Mustang for a Porsche 928. If you think they are or should be the same, then you should get out of the Porsche game. It is not for you.

$350.00 sounds cheap to me. Unless of course the purchase price of the car was $500.00, then I can see how one would choke. Then one might need to re-think what they are getting in to.

it is one of the hot wires in the middle. 650 came from the 200 dollar core charge. Notice I wrote 650 if you dont have one. If you have one, you dont have to pay a core. As for the mustang thing, the MAF in my car was 350 brand new, and it is considered to be one of the best money can buy. I am pretty sure that there isnt anything in the Porsche tech that is going to make it worth more than the one in my mustang that easily allows my motor to produce well over 500 to the wheels.

I am not bashing the company either... hey if that is what others charge, then that is fine. I am just saying that the "Porsche" markup is obvious...and not appreciated.

I am not sure what you mean by that. I have owned 7 porsches, and the Mustang I have in my driveway right now out performs every one of them. The 911 turbo was about as close as I can say any of them got to the mustang.

Obviously, I love Porsches, they have souls. Not all cars do, but clearly a classic Porsche does. To say that Porsches are not for me, and that I need to get out of the game because I dont see justification for a mark up just because it says Porsche on it kind of makes you sound like a dumba55. Just saying. it is an ignorant thing to say. Especially since you don't know me. -

Can we send them all to Hondatech or the Mustang forum as a Xmas present?

Leedee, it's not a Porsche Mark-up. When it costs a million $$ to produce 20,000 units, you have to figure out how to make a profit on it. When you produce 2 million and it only costs you a million to produce, it's easy to make a profit. Simple econ 101.
