Default Tire and wheel questions??

I'm looking for some advice on wheels. I have an 86.5 with three good an now one cracked BBS RS's (8.5" front and 9.5" rear). I have always had 16's and now i am looking at 18's. the wheels i found are 18x8.5 for the front fitted with 235's and the rears are 10" 275's. the seller says they will fit. I have never put this much tire on the car before.

Opinions?

Can't try them. I'm in Michigan and the wheels are in California.

Front offset is 52
Rear offset is 58

My current wheels are 8.5" in the front but 9.5" in the rear. I have had 255's in the rear and the outside clearance was real close.

Anyone out there running 10" wide rims in the rear on non-flared fenders?

Offsets? Without that the question is meaningless

Let me put all of the info in one place

Potential wheels (if they will fit)

Fronts 18" x 8.5" 130/5 bolt pattern 52 offset - Tire 235/40/18
Rears 18" x 10" 130/5 bolt pattern 58 offset - Tire 275/35/18

Car
1986.5 Automatic

Question is whether or not these wheels and tires will fit.

Any feed back is appreciated. Thanks

If you search for the Rennlister AO (Andrew Olson) you will find a wheel fitment calculator in his signature. I plugged in your wheel specifics and the spreadsheet says your front wheels/tires will stick out 0.5 mm beyond the fender.

On the front of my 89S4 - 18" Cayman rims, 57mm ET, 235/40/18 Michelin PilotSports rub on the wheel arch portion of the side molding when on lock.

Given how little clearance there is to the top of the wheel arch, I would be concerned about contact there with 52mm offset against the 57mm that I have.

Also, the rear wheel arches on the same car needed massaging to clear 265/40/18 on a rim with 53mm ET.

I think Porken had similar issues at the front, and went to a 225/35/18 to solve it.

Thanks Bob and Steve!

I think I'll pass on this set. I have enough to do without modifying the wheel arches.

For 8.5" fronts I have seen 56mm being used with 225 tire. Looks stupid but doesn't rub with agressive camper adjustment. On looks alone I wouldn't use them, let alone 52mm.
