While most of the interior is out, I am going to freshen it up with vinyl dye. Also plan to swap out the nice retro velour black striped interior I got from a parts car.
The one nice thing about this job is that with no roof on the car, it makes interior work a lot easier.

Even in this state that is pictured, I was able to fire it right up.
One of my fav thing to do is gut wires out of a 928. Can't stand all the foreign wires!

Good work! Will be following you progress.

nice work you do have a cool project . .
From your pictures I would suggest to inspect the defroster vacuum line to the pod it appears that it isnt connected the pod is next to the steering column

Yes, I need to do some refreshing of the vacuum system on this car. Most of the connectors on the head unit have plugs(screws) in them. I will have to go through the manuals to see what connections are missing. Also have a spare head unit that I am going to swap in from my parts car. Maybe they kept plugging these because the unit was having issues?????

How the hell do you not get confused with electrics in the 928??

When you really take a good look at it, it is pretty easy to distinguish between original and added. Most if not all the original originates in groups bundled in the black "cloth type" electrical tape. It all originates from the CE panel. Also, with the workshop manuals, you get detailed diagrams with color coded wiring. At first it seems intimidating, but after studying it for a bit, it is easy to spot the added wiring. Cut it all out and start from scratch. I had a few splices and cut wires on this with the worst offender being the ignition switch to support the Alpine alarm. I have a donor car that had the original wiring to the ignition so I was able to cut it with extra wire to reach and connect with butt connectors.
I still have a few non original wires in the doors and trunk that I cut but will get into later to remove.

I have not done much lately. I am waiting for the incoming body kit (Jacquemond?) that I found. Should be getting it mid January. For a little more than the cost of a new AIR front cover shipped to me, I got a whole body kit as well as a almost full GTS interior. A 928 RL member here wanted to look at the body kit and liked all the interior bits so he is getting most of that including a very nice GTS leather covered dash.
I have put in velour black/white striped interior bits I got and will deal with the dash and center console as soon as I get all the gauges working. I have a spare cluster and will choose the best.

Pulled the front bumper cover and side skirts to get ready for the Jacamond body kit. I have front cover, skirts, rear flares and rear cover. May just do the front and skirts. Will do the flares if and the rear cover if it doesn't look right. It would be a lot of work to remove the old rear cover and install the Jacamond. The only visual difference between the 2 is the dual outlet exhaust ports, which would require me to have a new exhaust custom built. I will also probably be ditching the rear wing. I prepped the car by removing most trim, the keys barrels, badge, lights etc..... Will be putting on some Euro 8" headlights that I found last week on EBAY for $175. Also picked up some MY02's that are pictured on the car.
Once my body guy is done with setting up the bodywork, I still have to choose paint color. May stick with the black???? Thinking a matte black may also be cool. I could even switch the color for some more money and go with a different color all together. I like granite green?????

I put the retro velour striped seats in it and they will be pretty cool.

This is a very cool project,
I am not on board with the body mods but its not my car, will have to see what things look like after your modifications are made, good luck on whatever path you choose.
if your sending the car to the body shop i would suggest to remove the interior including the seats they will get ruined going through a body shop and respray

Not much choice on the body work. Car already had the bodywork and it was put on with rivets etc.... Front bumper was cracked up so I found a full bodykit as a replacement. Too good of a deal to pass up.

Jacquemond front bumper cover and rocker covers are on. I decided to leave the AIR rear cover on because it looks almost the same except for the dual rear outlet. I also did not need to put on the rear GTS flares and I have decided not to re-install the AIR rear low profile spoiler. I guess I will post them all in parts for sale later unless anyone is interested in making an offer. Due to the size of the rear cover, it would be best to be picked up.

Also, I now need to decide on paint. Black is safe and simply a repaint. However, my Euro S is black and it would be nice to change it up. ALso looking into a matte black/anthracirte color??? Could look mean. Another choice is to give it some color and go with granite green. I always liked that gray/green look.

Here are some pics from today as well as the body parts for sale.
