Default Obsessive hood opening

Why do I open the hood every time I drive the car? It's not like I expect to see anything bad. Am I the only one?

3 miles to Chick-Fila and back? Better open the hood....

I can't seem to stop. I did it the other night at a restaurant, my wife was all "What's wrong with the car?". Me: "Well, nothing is wrong with the car, I just wanted to look". Wife, walking away: "You are weird".

LOL, I just came in from looking at my 3 928's. Opened the hood on each also 'just to look'.

Might be OCD? I try not to, because everytime I do its reminds me my hood struts need to be replaced.

I always open the hood after a drive. I'm operating under the assumption that the finish on things will last longer if theyre not heat soaked for as long. But that's probably magical thinking.....

I'm always checking to see where the steam is coming from these days. On the other hand all that steam has made for a nice clean engine ;-)

I do that all the time for the same reason when it's above about about 60 °F in the garage. So... always in the summer (at least until it cools off). Almost never in the winter.

I'm sure the crumbly bits would have lasted longer had the owner during the car's first nine years of life done the same.

In some parts of NYC I do it to make sure the engine is still there.

I always open the hood when I'm back home with the car.
To let the heat out of the engine bay.

I think that it can help to keep everything there as nice as possible.
It might be magical thinking like Rob said but it makes me feel good to think that it's better for her!

I do the same thing. I leave the hood open after driving in the summer to let the heat out. Heats up the garage and makes the AC work harder but that's worth it.

Yep, have done that for 16 years on the 89 and believe it does save components from being heat soaked. Doing same thing with the 91 GT as it looks new under there and will try to keep it that way...magical...maybe, wishful thinking ....maybe, but weird...no!

So if you leave the hood closed that heat doesn't get out and the AC doesn't have to counteract?

I close mine every now and then.
