Little brothers new 78 Euro...vin question.
Just helped my little brother pick up a 1978 euro. It was advertised as a 1979, however when I got there to look at it with him...the fab date was FEB 1978 and the VIN indicated it was a 78..not a 79. After hauling it back home I checked the Registry for the number. His is 9288101108. According to what I THINK I know..the second 8 indicates year and the first 1 indicates a ROW car. Here is where it gets odd. There is a car registered with 9288201108...the ONLY difference being its a USA car and has the SAME last four. Is this possible???? Would that mean there is a seperate but same production order for early ROW and USA cars????

I noticed this one has NO rear fog light like your #11 car. I dont think its a replace because there is no patch on the inside nor is there bumperett holes. I will post pics soon. Tool tray is COMPLETELY different than later years as well. Snaps in...not screwed.
No sunroof, 5 speed, no rub strips.

So....which came first? The rOW, US or Japan models. This is news to me and very interesting. Very odd as now , how does anyone determine the totals made?? One would have to know both start and stop VIN on 3 different models for every year.

That looks great dean. If you take off the passenger side mirror, take some pictures for me of the door side. I'm going to have to add a mirror to my daughters '78 unless she learns to turn her head.
