Default Air temp sensor question...

84 euro... as a reasembled the air cleaner box, I noticed that these is a brass looking fitting underneath the cleaner with threads. IS this for an air temp sensor?

I have been looking all over my motor for an air temp sensor that is not hooked up to anything. I can not find one. There are no harness wires not attached either..as far as I can tell anyway.

1) what is supposed to get threaded into that fitting on bottom side of air cleaner?

2) if the answer to #1 is AIT, then where would I find it, and what does it look like? I assume it looks like a normal ait, small sensor.

if answer to #1 is something else, then does my car have an AIT, and if so, where does it get installed?

1) Yes, an AIT, the fitting is on driver's side of the lower box ?

2) Looks like a normal sensor, pretty much all that extends into the airbox is a little black stub. Has a Bosch 2 pin connector under the box. You should find at least the harness plug for it hiding under there.

The IAT retards the igntion when intake airtemps rise, as the 84-86 16v Euros have no knock control system. The same sensor is present on the 85/86 32v 5 litre US cars

that is what I thought. I dont see a harness connector in that area at all. it is a euro car but that shouldnt matter.

Pull the MAF out and look under, the sensor lead comes from the same cableform as the MAF harness.

thanks. That will make it a lot easier for me. I actually had the maF off and disconnected. I dont remember seeing another wire and connector coming off of that shoot. Hopefully I just missed it.
