Going through my newly acquire 84 Euro, I noticed that the res for power steering is totally dry. lines are attached, and look ok as far as I can tell. I am going to full it up and hopefully once the car is running I will get lucky.
if not, how much is a pump, and how much is a used rack? Are leaks common? Are they fixable?

Before you fill the reservoir - take it loose and cut a bit of the hose off and reattach it. The hose gets soft and leaks where it attaches to the bottom.
Use Dexron, not power steering fluid. You bleed the system by turning the steering from side to side with the engine running. Keep the fluid filled while doing so.

928 steering racks often leak, one of the more common items needing rebuilding. The three hoses also go bad every 10-30 years
Buying a used rack which does not leak would be rare.....As noted use ATF be carefull as it burns well and a high pressure hose leak can spray on the exhaust . You should be sure to have a LARGE fire exstinguisher near you as you play with your 928s as it is very obvious that they have been neglected and screwed around with.

I am hoping that it is a small or minor issue...or no issue at all. I wont know until I can get it running anyway. Still oputting it together this week
