Default Retarded running

In prep for the GTS timing belt/gears/wp project I began taking some peripheral components off and when I moved the front wiring harness discovered a disconnected 3 prong connector. Tracing back it is the connector for the hall sensor.

IIRC the hall sensor retards ignition timing but dont recall by how much or any long term issues that may have occurred by running disconnected?

Another add to the winter projects

The ECU cant tell WHICH cylinder had a knock, so pulls back timing on all to be safe(er).

Should be it.

Its just a "who did it" sensor.

Just plug it back in and go for a drive. Cold weather and a properly running GTS = lots of fun.

Pansy, I drove to Edmonton one winter in an 87 auto with summer tires. I had no problems.

*****, we drove from Craig, Colo to I-80 in Wyoming on Co-13/Wyo-789 (along the continental divide) in a full-on blizzard last winter, the locals were all in the ditches and we had to drive around the gates at the interstate.
(Oh yeah, and we were in the Audi all-road with snows).

Malcom, the EZK resets its 6-deg retard whenever the key is off. So just replace the hall sensor (and a new harness connector if needed) and start the car...
And check it with that Sharktuner that you are allegedly partners in, if you can get your hands on it!

thx Jim........if only I could get out the driveway

The harness connector looks good just got some residual broken conector from the hall sender. I'll replace the sender, spark it up in the spring and enjoy the new found +ve timing.

I saw the ST once but I need another set of PEMs for the GTS then perhaps it'll reappear?

If you have an oscilloscope, and +5V power supply, then you might be able to test it. Or just install......
