GT or S4 Resonators
Ive been doing some searching regarding Small GT resonators vs. Large S4 resonators.
Which ones to use?
The car (90 GT) has the std exhaust manifolds, X-pipe, no cats. I have both the S4 and the GT resonators available.
Any performance gains with either?
Any input is appreciated.

There's probably minimal performance gains at best, but I can tell you that GT resonators, no cat, and a x-pipe can be quite loud, and may cause more interior drone than you'd like, especially if you've got a RMB.

I do have an RMB on now, but I doubt I will use it with the X-pipe.....
The current setup is: Original manifolds, Org. Cats, GT Resonators, RMB. Nice sound. Not too loud for me.

The '86.5/'87/GTS big resonators work well for sound with a X-pipe, but are heavy.
The '88-up GT style are light weight = performance.
The big ones have a perforated pipe with a smooth bend through the body = performance.
The small ones have a sharp bend right at the inlet.
Note that S4-up rear 'mufflers' are resonators. The pipe goes straight through.
The earlier 'pumpkin' style is an actual multiple path muffler.
I am getting a set of big ones for my '88 5-spd, for when I install a X-pipe.
Along with a stock S4 rear muffler, the sound is just about right, for me.
Throaty, but not too loud.
I tend to drive faster with a quieter exhaust.

The larger resonators drop exhaust noise about 2db more than the smaller ones (I've checked sound output with otherwise identical exhaust setup - front muffler (non-cat cars), resonators, stock back box). 87db versus 89 db for total stock non-cat system, depending on resonators. (measured 45 degrees off from tail pipe at about 1m)
I currently run an X-pipe with no cats, small resonators, and a stock S4 muffler on my '89 and its not too noisy.

Currently running x-pipe, GT resonators and RMB.
The sound level below 3000rpm is ok for me. Above 3000rpm with WOT it gets quite loud, but not too loud for me. Sort of like my 360 with cat delete and Tubi. Perhaps a bit deeper than the 360.
Has there been recorded any power gain or loss with a RMB?
