Default '85-'86 (S3) throttle body rebuild questions

Hi all - have lurked here for a while but recently anted up for a membership. Some of you may know me from the bird board.

I am working on a major intake refresh on my '86. Doing every "WYAIT" that I could think of. For the most project, I have the project nailed down with the help of the boards in general, and Roger @ 928s R US and Mike Frye in particular. Two questions:

1. My throttle body is disassembled. I see that the o-rings are integral to the bearings for the main butterfly shaft - has anyone replaced these bearings, and if so do you have specs and/or part number?

2. The 2 screws for the throttle butterfly were destroyed upon removal. What are the specs for this screw so I can order some new ones? I won't be going very far without securing my throttle butterfly.

Thanks all!

Hey, how's it going?

1- The o-rings are not integral to the bearings. The o-rings are one piece and the bearings are separate.

Check out this thread
Where I took the TB apart to find that the o-rings could be replaced. I did not replace the bearings, I just cleaned them up and replaced the o-rings to help seal up the TB. No issues since.
old O-ring

new o-ring

2- I can't help with the screws on the butterfly plate, sorry.

Hi there, thanks for the part number - I searched that part number in the forum and found the thread you mentioned (https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...re-w-pics.html). His build was on an '87 with the updated intake/throttle. When I spoke with Roger this week, his thought was that the S3 ('85-'86) used a different bearing. Can anyone confirm if the bearing above is applicable to the S3 or not?

Thanks Bruce. Email sent. I would love to hear more about the 944 o-rings too - but I'll try a search in the meantime.

Here's a fun pic I'm sure many will recognize. My CPS disintegrated on removal, so I finally gave up on trying to fish out the remains. Last night I pulled the clutch - my first time, so it took a few hours. 2 minutes to knock the sensor out (that hole just above the flywheel is where it used to live). The silver lining - my clutch has plenty of life left (see what I did there? Silver...'lining'???). I'm mostly a 911 guy by experience, so the 928 clutch assembly is the heaviest, most complicated thing I've ever seen.
