Gifts from insurance companies?

still trying to figure out what they used as the donor for the rear clip....Camero ?? I have though it would be neat to do an AMX style shortened wheelbase two seat coupe (research AMC Javelin) but no where near worth all the effort

I thought people on this forum knew something about 928's. This is the missing "rumble seat" prototype commissioned by Dr. Ernst Fuhrmann in 1979. Conceived in utmost secrecy, the "rumble seat" 928 project was initiated after an offhand comment by Ferry Porsche that the rear seats in 928's were so useless that they might as well have been rumble seats. Fuhrmann went to great lengths to keep the project secret. Rather than have the design and build done in-house, or even in Europe, Fuhrmann contracted with a heretofore unknown firm, Chico's Auto Body of Canoga Park, to have the prototype built in California. This surprising choice was ascribed to maintaining "plausible deniability" should the project be revealed before completion. Fuhrmann was much more comfortable with the prospect of ascribing the project to a bunch of crazy mexicans than acknowledging that Porsche money had gone to building a one-off when Porsche was losing money. The project was plagued by delays as the contractor completed work for established clients like Geico and Allstate before working on the prototype. Fuhrmann was replaced by Peter Schutz in 1981 and the unfinished rumble seat 928 faded into the mists of history.

Good point. The Porsche Museum may want this back.
