Default Alarm contact switch mounting

My car has always had this switch (928.613.173.00) roken, loose in it mount. So I buy a new one, with the plug that goes into it. One of the pins is missing , and they dont seem to be available, so I cobble up something. Get all soldered up, ready to fit it all together.
mmmm cant seem to get the assembly to fit into place. Pull back the rubber boot well clear of the plug....Nope. connect the plug to the old switch, and even with the rubber boot completely out of play, there is NO way the polug and switch assembled will fit in the bracket - with the base of the plug flat against the base of the bracket, the ring of 'teeth' on the switch that retain it in the bracket is at least 1/8" clear of the hole.

I also tried to find a way to remove the bracket - it looks like its screwed to the side of the cross brace mount - think I can see a small bolt head (7-8mm), but I cant get either size to grip it. There is something that feels like a nut under there. Wriggling the bracket turns the part that looks like a bolt head a tiny bit, but I cant grip it with anything.
Anybody know what gives here please?
