Default Drivers door Window ???

Recently Iv,e noticed when rolling down the driver door window I can hear what I can only describe as a (crack) not the sort that glass makes, but probably a more "mechanical crack".
Last year I replaced the nylon roller that sits in the guide channel and also the two nylon guides on the chrome tube, along with adjusting the two felt pads.., set it up etc, and it seemed good to go, although after a lot adjusting and cussing etc it worked without this "crack" noise which has only just shown up and occurs on the window down cycle.
I also replaced the door handle inner carrier but this wont have any relevance to the window problem.., just saying.
Ive tried a search but cant find a definitve remedy ?

from the info provided the roller on the window channel is either cracked and or the rivet that holds it into the lift arm has gotten loose,

when you go to fix it again,
try removing the rivet and using a small bolt with the proper spacers,
IIRC ACE hardware has plastic rollers in the closet door section that can be used and they have small bearings in the rollers

..., thank you,.. you mention a very good point. I was unable at the time to refit a rivet so I used a small machine screw and lock nut, but was,nt 100 per cent happy.
I thought I was getting away this year without another visit inside the driver door area.., 4 years running for different things Iv,e been in there (probably could dismantle it blind fold now)
So it is possible the screw has loosened off, causing the clunk/slight jump while in the down cycle.
BTW..., When I replaced the roller I tried to buy one at my local OPC, they said it was only available with the complete arm/mechanism. So I found the old one in the bottom of the door, glued it together ( for dimensions only ) and got a short length of ( Polypenko ) a very hard white nylon substance which I turned down on a lathe to exactly the spec of the original and it fitted/worked great.
But after numerous window openings that screw/nut could have worked loose, ie the weakest link ?
I,m sure I read somewhere on the forum that the white nylon roller could be bought seperate as it,s 7 years since I made the one I have ?... and was wondering what,s the way to fix it ?.. I now know that at the time it was impossible to rivet the roller with the channel it rolls in, in situ, hence the machine screw ?

Both the roller and the rivet are available.
Door Window - Guide ROLLER '77-'95 P/N 928.537.918.00 $1.81
Door Window - Guide Roller RIVET '77-'95 P/N 928.537.917.00 $3.53

You can install the roller and rivet on the aluminum arm after removing the actuator assembly from the door.

Not too bad - you have to find the best open/close position for the arm to wriggle it put thru the door opening. The aluminum arm should be un-bent - it is easy to accidentally bend it during the operation.

A good time to clean and lube everything in the door. Do some reading on WYAIT's (While You Are In There items).

My thought about the rivet and roller was that most dont have the press needed to reform the rivet, simply hammering it will usually damage the new roller. BTDT

It is much easier to drill out the rivet then add a machine screw and spacer with a new roller.

.., just ordered the P/N,s you gave me. they have,nt come back and said (not available) as they did a few years back??
Yep all is lubed and cleaned etc, except I have,nt done a refurb of the motor, which probably would be a good idea ? that,s the only thing not touched, as it ,s working ok.
Thanks again...,

Wally supplied the P/N,s and as they are cheap I thought I,d buy them, but I do appreciate/respect your view, and as I found out, when I originally made/fitted my Polypenko roller, it was,nt stressfull on any of the mechanism during install , with machine screw and nut.
Having a new roller I,ll be able to compare any discrepancies I may have had if any? with my retrofit one, and could fit it via nut/bolt..,

to fit the new rivet you will need a press with the correct tips to reform the rivet,
having the new parts to match is a good idea

quote== to fit the new rivet you will need a press with the correct tips to reform the rivet,..., yes, indeed ?

quote== having the new parts to match is a good idea ...,
..., that,s what I thought, and while I,m in there it would make sense to utilise the genuine part to eliminate any problems ? It,s just getting the tension right, in order for the roller to run free, which I found difficult with the nut and bolt.., which also in turn probably lead to this scenario I have now .

Odd thing is , as I have said I ordered the parts from OPC, and they have confirmed delivery, and yet when I really needed one years back, they were,nt available and only with the complete arm if I did ? .Guess they changed their tune !

Many thanks for your time..,

You talk about the felt part. I got new/used ones to put in but can't figure out where to put them. I took the old ones out but can't remember where they sat. Now that I am putting it all together again I don't know how! It all seemed so simple at first! Could you remind me where to put the felt guides?
