BEWARE of this scam
I was looking thru Ebay and came across an ad for a 1993 Black GTS with 33K+ on it for $22,900. The listing did not show up when you did a search but came up when you went thru a completed listing and at the bottom showed similar items with this ad.
I don't have all the particulars as Ebay took the listing off.
I contacted the lister and got the following interesting emails.
Original ebay ad
Porsche : 928 Coupe 2-Door
Item Id: 251165263769
My original contact:
Can you send additional pictures of the interior and the engine?
How long have you owned it?
Does it have a clear title?
Does it have any accident history?
Do you have the service history for the car?
Is that the actual mileage?
Thanks
Their response:

My response as the address is a street intersection.
I got your message and this morning I stopped by LIC on 38th Ave & 29th street and did not see your establishment anywhere.
Can you give me your exact address where I can see the car and we can negotiate the deal.
Thanks
Their response, but a different person using the same email address
Excuse me? how come you did not see it? it is impossible. That is the correct address, and in case you want to buy or pick up the car you have to reserve it , that means a 10% of a refundable deposit.
Thank you,
James Pilon
When you go to their website it looks really legit, but the phone goes to a computer generated voice answering system.
In my opinion it is a really sophisticated scam. BEWARE.

That's an ebay Local Classified ad. That's why it didn't come up on search.

I looked at the car on their website. I believe that I saw those exact same pictures in an AutoTrader ad a few months ago....the price was over $40K then, and the car was in California. I'm pretty sure it's a scam.

I checked the 928 Registry and in 2000 there was an entry of 88,000 miles and the car was in Georgia. The ad on ebay said it was located in Kansas.
Now they want me to give them a 10% "refundable" deposit to reserve the car.
This must not be the only scam they are running. It would seem that all the cars on their website must be for other scams they are currently running.

Tell them you'll meet them in person with 100% in cash.

If you haven't actually lost money to this, I suppose it isn't worth your time, but I hope someone files with the AG.
It would seem ebay might get involved. I'm betting the phrase they used is not ebay's registered name, but close enough for them to sue. They are using ebay to further their fraud.
