I did the S4 calipers years ago; black to red.

I did them as a winter project but had them in the house to ensure room temp. Cleaned thoroughly, stipped them with paint remover, cleaned and stripped again then cleaned one more time. Painted with caliper paint (forget which brand) 3-4 coats then baked in oven followed with 3-4 coats of clear coat, bake again.

Been good all this time and yes I do drive it!

PPC- Permanet Painted Coatings, does a calliper kit.
I found it a bit hard to apply by brush, but I think it flows out way way better than expected. It says not to brush it much at all, so I think I did that wrong as I put in too much to try and get a smooth finish. It seems to keep on smoothing out for ages after.
Certainly spraying is easy, I did the final coat that way with a small preval sprayer.
It applies really strangely, almost clear after the first coat. It took ages to dry as PPC is about 70% solids.

I sanded the raised writing and brushed on a calliper clear coat

The best way to go is powder coating. But all pistons and seals would need to come out.
If I ever go through the effort again, it will indeed be powdercoating.
