I had asked my mechanic to take the hose out for repaire/replace but he refused because he didn't want to take the risk of cracking the radiator or the cooler. He said that he had many bad experiences when he deals with this kind of plastic radiator.

I have to deal with it myself, what is the chance of cracking the radiator or the cooler when I remove the hose? Thks.

Check my albums I think I did the hose you are talking bout.

Unfortunately the album is in reverse order, but you can rebuild the rubber section without removing the fitting if the 'mechanic' is afraid.

Keep in mind if your hose is like the 86 hose, there are several rubber sections and the entire hose is likely on its way 'downhill' (the rear section crosses the cats).

I did this for about 20 bucks worth of materials (you will need ~ 2 gallons ATF also to replace any lost fluid).

On the fan - it sounds like folks have different experience with the clearances. After loosening PS bottle my fan does not come up safely without undoing the radiator hoses also so that is what I do.

Also, to be safe you can also use heat, in addition to PB blaster, to help on the collars if they haven't been touched in a while.

The front transmission cooler threads on mine are aluminum. Be careful or you can strip these and need to replace the unit - ask me how I know.
