Share your 928 with a teen...
A friend of mine who has a '66 Vette Big Block insured with Hagerty got a letter the other day.
" On Saturday, November 10, Hagerty will host the Hagerty Driving Experience at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Atlanta, GA. This event provides young drivers with the opportunity to learn to drive a manual transmission in some of the coolest classic cars around! The ultimate goal of this program is to create the next generation of collectors by sharing with them the thrill of owning and driving a classic car.
This is where you come in. If you're interested in helping promote youth involvement in the hobby, we need you. We are looking for a few car owners who have a classic with a manual transmission and are willing to teach the next generation how to drive them. The event will be held on a closed course at low speeds and all participants will have a valid driver's license/permit and general knowledge of driving. To get a sense of how it works, check out our video from past Driving Experience events.
If you are interested in taking part, please contact Tabetha Salsbury at tsalsbury@hagerty.com or 231.922.8837 by Friday, October 26.
Additionally, if you know of a young person ages 15-25 years who would like to take part, please encourage them to register at www.hagerty.com/drivingexperience by Wednesday, October 31.
The event is free and lunch and goodies will be provided for all participants and volunteer car owners. The program will be held from 9am to 4pm, with breaks throughout the day.
Thank you and I hope you join us for this exciting event!

My friend declined the opportunity, but if any of you want to teach a teen to drive your five-speed at Atlanta Motor Speedway, just contact Hagerty.

That would be pretty cool.
If they had it at a venue near me I'd be all over it. Especially if it meant my kids (all three between the ages of 18 and 25) could drive my car on a road course. They were all taught to drive in a 5-speed car and have all driven my car at least once or twice (the youngest is a major car fan and drives my car the way it was meant to be driven!)
The art of driving a manual transmission is being lost. Not to mention that it's hard to text, talk, adjust your Ipad, tweet, or 'like' something if both hands and both feet are engaged.
Save the manual transmission!

Sounds like a blast albeit to far for myself and son.
He has driven my S4 on occaision and the smiles and conversation afterward are just what we adults need when communicating with our teens

Cool idea, except that drivers new to manual shifting tend to be pretty awful at it. I plan to teach my daughter how to drive a stick shift, but in a POS of some kind where she can destroy the clutch and and gears while learning; probably a beat old Saab 900 will end up as the victim.

I see many clutch jobs in the weeks/months after this event... shops, make sure you have lots of work order sheets on hand. You stand to get rich!
