Default How to deal with 3M adhesive?

I have made it thru most of the electric issues on my '89 at this point. It has been a long 2 days.

Now how do I address my sticky 3M adhesive? The PO tried to stick all of the carpet down, and the 3M is EVERYWHERE!

I have thought about just using felt to negate removal of the adhesive. Lay down the felt and get the new carpet in.

What would you use? What would you do?

For removing stubborn stuff I actually use "3M Adhesive Remover". You can find it at Pep Boys.

Nice answer!

I know they make it, I have never used it. I have also never seen the adhesive used everywhere!

I can imagine using 3 cans of remover and rolls and rolls towels for every square foot that they sprayed the adhesive on. There are a lot of square feet inside of a 928.

Mike, the adhesive remover is usually sold on the same shelf as the adhesive. What exactly are you trying to do here?

Clean up before putting in new carpet.

Ahh i would use the adhesive to your advantage.
Get a can of Weldwood contact cement at HDepot in a qt can red and yellow printing.

Then brush it onto the carpets and put a layer on the already applied 3M then let it tack then install the carpet.
