Default What HP can you expect from a unmodded S4?

Rather than clog up someone else's thread I want to know what people think a factory correct S4 has nowdays. Let's say it has 125K and has just had intake refresh, tune up, and everything else reasonable to bring it back up to spec and drivable condition. No mods yet. Do you think under 300 or over 300?

When they were brand new, 316-320 hp, minus 15% for driveline loss, so roughly 270 rwhp. Minus whatever has 'aged' in the ensuing 20+ years.

Yup, properly maintained is correct.

Also this is unmodded, no X pipe etc.

I yanked 289rwhp from a 88S4, fresh after a top-end refresh, Xpipe, 89+ resonators, RMB on a Dynojet and mild early sharktuning.

Whether the dynojet numbers are 'accurate' or not, the raw numbers are pretty darn consistent. Since folks want to see a lot for their modification and dyno dollar, the correction factors can seem optimistic to this former ex has been performance test engineer. The raw numbers may not make you happy, but at least you can get usable differential numbers.

He's one of the few places you can get spec class sealing done..his ****'s done right.

All three of his Dynojet units on site read within 1% of each other any given day.

He's not a hobbiest.

Even does high altitude dynojet work for motorcycles in a barometric chamber.

Most of them are going to be 255-275 at the high end. Mine, after lots of going through and mods only did 289hp and 301tq. This was before the GTS intake and spacers but I doubt very much it added more than one or two.

Sounds about right.

Some results from aussie Dyno Dynamics machines in "shootout mode" (i.e. standardised ramp rate etc. to enable comparison with results from other dyno dynamics machines):

'88 S4 auto - bone stock - 250rwhp
'89 S4 auto - bone stock - 257rwhp
'89 S4 auto - bone stock - 261rwhp
'89 S4 manual - bone stock - 260rwhp *
'89 S4 manual - xpipe only - 280rwhp *

* - same car

My S4 has always been pretty well maintained and only has a RMB and some of the later AutoThority chips (the early ones were worse than stock chips!) and it put down 263/267...
