Default Other Porsches prior to my 928

I used to drive 356's and 911's - 15 years ago I moved from a 911SC, 1983 Cab (first year of the 911 Convertible) to a 1990 Cab followed by a 1997 993 Cab before getting into 928's.

He still has the 1983 and it still looks and drives good - it just ain't a 928

Predecessor to my 928; 83 911SC. Loved it, would have made a nice garage-mate for the 928. Even though my 928 is much, much more car, in nicer condition, and had 70k fewer miles, the sale of the 911 provided money leftover after the purchase of the 928.

My first car was a '65 356SC cab. Porsches in the middle years included an early 911T, an early 911SC coupe, an early carrera, and now the 928S4. All were wonderful cars. There were good reasons to part with the older ones at the time, good reasons to hang on to the 928 too. Other good cars filled the in-between times. Non that I rege=ret owning, only a few I later kinda regret selling. But, like the Porsches, there were good reasons at the time to part with most of them. Most of those reasons involved tuition and high ownership costs, coupled with a thorough dislike for "debt" (realistic alternative word for 'credit').

I had a '71 911T once and would love to find a 911SC or Carrera someday but they are 2X the price of our wonderful cars. They are icons.

Prior to my most recent (which is the 86.5), I had an:

87 924S blk/tan 5 spd;

85 928 5 spd blk/blk;

83 928 EuroS 5 spd...still have that last one.

As is the general pattern in my life...started very modestly and worked my way up...to a modest place.

I had a really nice '94 968. Would be fun to try a recent 911 some day for a change of pace ....

I know that if I happen to test-drive a new Pana or 911, one will be in my garage a day or two later. Ditto the MB store and the AMG hotrods. I don't need one. But I didn't -NEED- a 928 either. Must resist assimilation.
