I'm in. I just got my PSD working thanks to a used pump unit and slave. The slave will need rebuilt sooner or later.

I don't think they are back up rings as described in the handbook. The 928 Steering rack has back up rings for many of the O ring seals (and for the wiper type seals) - these are placed immediately next to the O ring - normally used when the piston (metal to metal) clearances are very loose.

I suspect in this case that the central seal is the actual seal and the back up "rings" are just used as guides to prevent the metal piston hitting the wall of the cylinder and scratching it the.

Seems odd that they didn't use similar seals to a brake master cylinder - these see similar pressures

Thankfully I don't require any of these as my car doesn't have PSD. Just couldn't stand the idea of someone having to spend $400 for a cylinder when all that's wrong is seals. Hope that company can help.

Response to Email was "send us the piston and we'll do the rest".
I've sent it. If things work out and they are able to retrofit the piston seals, I will let everyone know what to ask for, and where to send the order.

Great stuff Lex, subscribed (and in case they do not ship to Finland, I am definitely interested in a set. No need for now, good to have for sure)!

Any updates? Were they able to find a seal that would work?

Yes. They shipped the replacement seals back to me a while ago, but I didn't want to go forward with anything until I had completed the replacement on my car. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to do much. They do exist. I have ten sets. If you need them now, let me know. It would be at your own risk. $30. per set.
