Default Steve's TB/WP Party part 2 = Completed. It lives!

Hi,

Thanks again to Matt, Gilbert, and Dan (Rocky Mountain Sharks members) for helping make the maintenance and parts replacement go so smoothly. The car is running great, and now I'm confident that it won't throw a belt and wreck the motor.

I'll post some more pics soon, and in them you'll see: Matt spreading his DNA all over my motor, Gilbert continuing to confound me with common sense, and Dan holding his hose and drinking a beer after "wrestling" with Helga the East German ignition rotor installer. Explanations will be posted at the bottom of this e-mail.

Everything went about a well as it could go. We had all the parts needed on hand (thanks to Roger at 928sRUs), the motor started right up after re-routing the throttle cable to get rid of the 1,600 RPM idle and tightening one small hose clamp to stop a little leak. It's amazing that 4 strangers (at least at the beginning) could work together and make it work so well. It gives you hope for the human race. Now those guys are no longer strangers, they are friends.

Explanations: Matt used his saliva to "lube" the radiator hoses to make them slide on easier. Since it is a closed system, his DNA is now in my motor. Gilbert would keep us grounded in reality when we started to stray into the territory of making things harder than they needed to be. And Dan fought with a screw in the ignition rotor that was for some reason torqued to about 300+ ft/lbs. We joked that Helga the East German Olympic shot-put thrower must have installed it. After attacking the screw with a pair of locking pliers, he held onto the power steering pump hose and enjoyed a well earned beer and rested for a few minutes.

Thanks again for all of the help! Hope to see you guys again soon. You gave me something to look forward to these last couple of Saturdays.

-Steve
