Search End tank Seal and you'll find a lot of info.

After driving for about 10 miles I noticed that the top of the radiator was hot
when you place your hand on the the inside coils and cool at the bottom
I think this means that there is blockage somewhere and there is a new rad in my future

First, get a good flashlight. Look very closely at the plastic radiator tank under the top hose entry neck. Sometimes hard to see, it is common for the tank to crack under or around the hose neck.

A radiator shop should be able to 'rod it out' to unclog potentially clogged up vains (sp) plus then you can get new end seals done. Yippee
