Wheeler Dealers is a real favourite of mine.I know its probably a little/lot simplistic for you guys who know the mechanics of automobiles inside and out, but for someone like me who until this late stage in my life thought car maintenance/repair was beyond me, it has educational value for me.

In fact its fair to say, that this program is responsible for spawning my interest in owning a classic car, and giving me confidence to actually go and buy my shark.
If nothing else though, the cars they feature are interesting to say the least and i find Edd and Mike entertaining.
I hope they keep producing the show for a long time to come.

I think my favourite episode was the Lotus Espirit, it was a nightmare for Edd.

I had read an article about the show somewhere, and someone made the same questions about fluids, grease, cleanliness, ETC.....the producers stated that they cannot show everything involved in the "refurbishment" of the vehicles in the show time / schedules allotted, but to rest assured that all general maintenance and repair items are performed on the vehicles before they are sold.

I assume that it means changing the oil every episode does not make for good TV....

Yes, that is probably true, but it should be included in the expense sheet to get the true profit.

That is just trying to talk away some of the problems of any future liability for those cars if they actually were sold. Some shows, movies destroy the cars used as props so no one makes money from selling them and no one gets hurt.
The driving show I was booked for, Whips , had the most unbelievable waivers you can imagine. Said they would restore and upgrade my car but that it might never run again, be street legal, and on and on and on. No recourse for any and all damages and injury including death.

I feel lucky as I honoustly have two of those. One project and one in good driving order. Both 2.4 liter engines. 180 bhp They sound great with those dino engines. Love the looks too.

Nope, I'll take any of those from the Orkin spots over anything those dingleberries touch on Wheeler Dealers.

I wouldn't take one of those vehicles they 'fix up' for half of what they sell them for. Although the show is entertaining and I frequently watch it, those guys are almost as unscrupulous as a buy here/pay here dealer telling potential buyers that Grandma only drove it to the store and church. Did anyone see the 911 episode? So many shortcuts taken and problems left for future owners of those vehicles while being sold at a premium price and told everything is in perfect working order. Unbelievable.

I'm a big fan too. At least they don't try to get top dollar when they sell them on - lot's missing from their efforts, but I find it very entertaining.

I bought this '84 GTI after watching their GTI episode. Been working on it for 2 years now. Mostly cleaning it up and replacing ALOT of rusty parts. The body is in generally decent shape, the interior is superb and the motor runs well. Just got the motor back in a couple of weeks ago, so I figure it'll be back on the road in a month or so. Thank goodness most GTI parts are super cheap.

When you put a mic on someone and turn on the camera like in the buyer segment strange things happen !!! People will pay thousands of dollars just to be on TV. Again it is NOT real ! but still entertaining.

LOL, after seeing the 944 or maybe it was the 924? episode I went and bought a NA 86-944! DId have a couple of small issues that I fixed for $100.00. Still driving it 2 years later with only a alternator going out.

Best handling car I've ever driven and don't regret it a bit.

But in regards to that show, my thought is that they can't show or list everything that they HAVE to do to these cars. No f'ing way. Never a broken stud? Or an "oh ****" moment? Come on,lol.... and when they figure their "Costs" I guess they don't figure ole Edd's labor as being worth much! Who would spend a week or two working on a car in a garage and just total parts as being cost factors.....?

It's just a cute show, wouldn't put reality anywhere near it.

Don't all of the brit cars have to pass MoT before they get plated. I don't know how picky an inspection can be to pass.

I did watch a Top Gear episode on german sedans that was interesting when they did a safety inspection.
