Default Flex plate tension check

I am working on replacing the bell housing cover after checking my flex plate on my 86.5 auto. (No presure or movement) as usual but we keep on checking. My bell housing cover gasket is in pretty bad shape and needs to be replaced. You know the one, that little felt like gasket that goes between the cover and the starter. Is there anything I can use as a substitute for now? The car is up on a friends lift so waiting for a new one to be shipped to me is not an option.

For reference the part number is 928 116 427 02

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

put the bell cover back on and dont drive through any deep water,
if you really want to get a piece of rubber foam to plug the slot then go to ACE they have closed cell rubber foam,
that said you dont really need the foam as it seems to collect oil then it falls out

Thank you for getting back to me. Now thats what I call a rapid response. This forum is great. I buttoned it up and ordered the part . I will wait untill next years inspection to install it since this car is never driven in the rain.
Thanks again
