Default Boostards: What plug gap are ya using?

Changing to WR5DC+'s and can't find what plug gap you all are using?

Advice?

.028" if memory serves - whatever the smallest gap is within the factory range.

Then I should be good, I set them in the 28-30 range and installed them.

From what I know of your install, stock gap is fine.

The only issues I've personally experienced with ignition systems under boost was with my 81 @ 17psi (stock ignition, single coil) and Todd's S4 pushing 30 psi with a stock ignition system controlled by Autronic. The dwell time was suspect on Todd's car so the S4 ignition system may not have been the problem. He was running with a gap of 19 to try and alleviate the issue.

I'm a big proponent of keeping as much as possible stock unless the setup gets really extreme.

So a small boob job is out of the question, but giant boob job is okay. Got it. I'm sure people will post illustrations of this is short order.

I've ran stock gaps all the way up to .038 I've seen no noticeable difference running low ( 6 psi ) boost. The stock system is fairly robust as far as I can tell.

Yeah, single dizzy, single coil. I'm sure it would cause issues at a higher boost level.

Agreed

Even the single coil "old school" distributor setup is damn reliable up to 14 or so psi.

Was just asking to clarify since you like many of us, have so many projects in the works, hard to keep track of which ones we are talking about....

When I started having ignition issues under high boost in the 81's stock ignition I tried every "old school" hot rod trick in the book.
I spent countless hours carefully routing the wires with separators, drilled holes in the cap to alleviate pressure, kept playing with the plug gap, measured about 5 sets of plug ends for the best matched set, bypassed the stock resistors etc.... IMO I reached the "breaking point" of that setup which is why I re-wired the car for the EuroS twin dizzy setup and LH 2.2.
