Hacker,
You're right. Picked one up this afternoon, and I sat in the passenger seat with it without it being obtrusive. Appears - disappears at will with no intrusion into the console. Also I like that, compared to others that are fixed low, I don't have to reach over - it sits on the same horizon as the console.

That W.mart one looks great. Appears to be able to hold everything from a Coke to cellphone to cash and spare lures.

Added to wish list...

The earlobe thing would be a great idea if your earlobes were parallel to the ground. I mean, add two straws and you've got a 24/7 beer hat!

The two cup holders are stepped so can accommodate cups/cans of different size.

Yeah, well... It was about $30 when I got mine from a friend at VW/Audi way back when. It was/is a standard accessory for the Passat around the turn of the century. It's only tripled in price in 15 years. Not so bad. Speaks to the [de]value of the dollar in that time I guess, similar to the way petrol prices have have "risen".

Hey, I should have tripled in price in that same period too!

Accommodate yes, sweet... not really.

I've been getting by with the wedge for over 5 years, but it really doesn't 'hold' drinks very well. Reason being it only has about an inch to grab (depending in size) and the big size is too big.

The old fashion huggies do a decent job at holding cans and fit the upper level or big size, but that's about it. Never have found a travel coffee mug that it can hold snugly. Same thing with water, Gatorade, and ur uhmm soda bottles.

Also, Rev limiter tolerates it, but I know (and have heard) she doesn't like it.

IMHO, cheap and easy, just not the best. Talking about the cup holder that is. YMMV

GTS had this when I bought it--a double "pop up" holder. The receipt was in the stuff that came with the car--he paid $110. Removed them soon after I got it and have thought about replacing the black material with something that would match the arm rest; a rainy day project...

That works great for you tall people. I'm short and my seat is up far. I'd have to reach behind me to grab the drink by putting it there. I need to do like Jim M. did and install a small net right under the door light so I can put a my water bottles there also.

Ok, I'll take Doc's word for it. I've had my eyes on this one, just didn't know where to buy it or who's it was.

Google search is your friend (using VW double folder cupholder eurovan) = $40 source (no affiliation):

Great find. I also was looking at that one. Gunna order it tonight. 1/3 the price I recently saw.
