Preferred Vendor List
While I enjoy doing most of my maintenance, I have a couple of tasks I prefer to use a reputable vendor for. On that list the top is odometer repair. I looked at Dwayne's write up and I would rather farm that out.
And I will be looking for a shop to rebuild a set of injectors I have on the shelf.

Hi Kevin:
The hardest part is to pull the instrument cluster out of the pod. Once it's out it's pretty easy to pull the cluster apart and replace the odometer gear. If you want, I'd be glad to do it for you for free. (if you supply the gear). I'm in Maryland, not around the corner, but UPS knows where I'm at.
I replaced all the bulbs while I was in there, something you might want to do also.
PM me if interested.

I have the same speedometer reluctance. I called North Hollywood Speedometer http://www.nhspeedometer.com/ for a quote: $160 for an odo gear replacement.
