Injector replacement
Just got my new injectors from Roger
Car is a k-jet, CIS set up. My injector system uses the hard lines.
Any gotchas before I dive in? I've done a search and couldn't find anything special to worry about.
What about things like running frst with the relay out to depressurize? Obviously must counter-hold nuts as they come apart. What else?

Be prepared to use a vicegrips to remove the big sleeve from the runner. Supposedly you can unscrew it by wrenching the injector but it's probably too frozen for that and the sleeve with yield around the injector.

This shows some service procedures that also apply to the 928. There is a good puller tool pictured.

what runner Glen? Now you have me worried. Are you thinking of the later configuration? Mine go right from the hard line to the injector, altho there may be something there I haven't seen yet until I start to take it apart.

Glen - mine are like the injectors in the link from doc.

Right.
Look at the first pic in the doc. The large threaded sleeve should be unscrewed from the runner (legs) to replace the injector. Some people may pull them out and shove them back in but with 30+ yo rubber you want to be gentle.

the CIS injectors in our 928 are different.
our CIS injectors actually are threaded into the bung which is then threaded into the runner. Everything else applies.

So just unscrew the injector or the whole bung from the runner?

Best trick I found is to unscrew the 3 part assy (injector, sleeve, and cmpression seal) as a whole, using a long nose socket. Then spray with pen. oil, rethread into intake runner (hand loose), then pull with hook tool.
Good talkin' with you Ed. Pls pm me your addy.

The problem, as with all CIS setups is the slug which holds the seal in place needs to be unscrewed using the brass of the CIS injector. Soak it in PB for a bit, then extract the brass injector using the tool. Once the injector is out, use an Allen driver to remove the slug, and replace the injector seal below. The seal will likely come out in many pieces.
Try to get injectors which have very close opening pressures, otherwise the off-idle will be a bit lumpy(I have that problem with a CIS car now).
