Well I did burn this neon the other day... and I did get smoked by a new Honda Prelude though at a stoplight in my 79' (stock I might add). 1000HP CTS-V? How much does that put down on the rear wheels.
Anybody who mods a car and then brags about beating a stock "off the dealer lot" car shouldn't get too many nods of appreciation. Big deal. It's sounds like these 18 year olds in their 700HP civics. Big deal who cares. Modded cars are a fools game. You're better than the next guy until he mods his with more boost pressure, bigger turbo etc. etc. Ad infinitum.
As far as cost... when the boost kit costs more than the car it's going into, you have your answer before it's begun.

Here's that answer to the question how much rear wheel horsepower a modded CTS-V puts out even thou a modded 7 liter LS7

this thread is stupid as he11, you are trying to justify. a race is a race, you "run what you brung", period. age, cost, etc has nothing to do with it
my guess is he beat a 1st generation V, a win is a win. 2nd gen V's are stout

I see wheel spin in that dyno video (white tire smoke) meaning that number is probably a little low......I wouldn't want to tangle with that particular V.

Take the same budget that produced that monster CTS-V and apply it to a 928....no contest.
They also weigh over 4,200lbs.
556bhp @ 4,200lbs versus Gretch with 500hp to the rear wheels @ 3,600lbs
Winner = Gretch
He would have blown a 1st generation into oblivion so bad the driver would have checked his rear view mirror for a parachute.
The #1 disadvantage a high power 928 has against modern cars is traction off the line, not an issue with a roll-on race.
That is why Todd is working on launch control on his twin turbo.
