The first item on the agenda prior to my 928 purchase was insuring that I had a great, not good, great mechanic that knew 928's very well. The Porsche dealer did not have anyone on staff that was experienced at 928's. Then I listened to other owners relative to their experience. Use the resources that are available to you to gain an understanding of this wonderful car, even if in the end it means moving on.

His ad Suggests New Jersey. Anybody around there that can help him asses and maybe get his feet wet?

What is your budget for repairs? That engine needs probably at least a maf and ecu and intake refresh on top of whatever damage may have been caused before hand to be remotely driveable.

James has a great point, a compression check is needed to see how exstensive the potential cylinder damage might be. you can borrow one from autozone to find out (unplug your fuel pump power source, start the car until it dies so it wont shoot more fuel during testing, then remove all spark plugs before trying). expect anybody interested in this to get a ppi and you may get only a fraction in realistic offers pending on how that turns out in comparison of your original price.

Given that one guy thought your no start was a timing belt issue, when was the belt actually done or camtiming or tension checked ?
