Interior Light Conversions?

I spent a couple of hours rewiring the rear overhead map light last night as apparently the bulb had melted through the insulation on a couple of wires causing them to in turn melt all their insulation off all the way back to the closest junction in the wiring harness for the hatch (this happened before I bought the car) luckily the original wiring was still intact enough so that I was able to build a duplicate of it I popped in a fresh bulb and BOOM light (after I replaced the blown fuse) when I was re-installing the headliner panel I realized that there was no way I was putting a bulb back in that housing as I am sure the same burn up (or worse) would occur so my question is this , Have any of you replaced your interior bulbs with led conversions which appear to be readily available on ebay? It seems to me that having light but little to no heat would be my best way to go here!
Opinions? Advice? Alternatives?

I recall one guy on here that did an LED conversion..it was SO BRIGHT, that if you used it while driving, im positive that someone would die from the accident soon after. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
But..no reason the LED drop in's wouldn't work just find for a reasonable solution.

After two interior light fixtures and the under-hood light fixture had buckled under the heat of the incandescent bulbs, I replaced all seven of them with LEDs. (1991 or later have seven including hood light, 1990 has six in the interior, 1981-1989 have five, and earlier cars have three)
Now I don't worry about running down my battery with all the lights on, and my interior gets nice and bright.
I offer these bulbs in my store in natural white and cool white (the latter is a bit purple-ish), and have sold many of those over the years.

You probably want these - they won't short out, look and function better and will cover up any upholstery pulling away from the light cut out. You can swap to LED's in these if desired also:

See several other threads on this too. Roger (ROG100) stocks these new in several colors Black/Grey/Beige (and the pigtails too).

In the process of replacing all my interior and exterior lights with LED's. Interesting looks in addition I can see my interior and dash light for change. Here is a little something I did under the hood. No more flashlight needed for side of the road inspection under the hood. This is a 1 meter 5050 LED strip with 3M adhesive backing, no drilling.
