S4 and Greater Fan Control Module
#107
Any up date on this yet? I had to replace the fan controller on my 90S4 this year after attempting to repair the defective unit. I also now have a "spare" heat sink and connector to donate to the project.

I was intending to produce a new fan module, but as apparently someone was alread on the case I decided not.
As it turns out that was the wrong decision.....

It's not too late to make the right decision...this appears to be an already common problem that's rapidly becoming a 'when...not if' kind of thing. It's likely every S4+ will need one. I have an original unit and used one that have failed in almost exactly the same way.

I have no doubt the new and improved version will be great, but any prototype has yet to be shared, then you have testing, manufacturing etc.... It could be some time and meanwhile a known good replacement OEM spec unit is available from 928's R Us & 928 International.
I'm old school, give me a two stage temp switch in the radiator to turn the fans off / on.

Tony,
Those are a good fan controller. Derale licensed the old DC Controls design, and modernized the construction method. I have not tried to use it with stock fans though. I have always given the controller a lower amp load with aftermarket fans.
