Another data point ....now on E-bay !

1989 Porsche 928 GT

1989 928 GT, 351 Original miles, One owner

Raleigh, NC, United States

Time left:

20d 07h (Aug 28, 201215:41:09 PDT) "

Which is twice the car, lower miles, far more rare model...
So based on that maybe the 83 is "worth" $50,000 maybe not. Just takes ONE buyer who WANTS it and for whom $50,000 is not significant money.

Price:

US $98,500.00

How is it the "newest" 928 on the planet? I think that distinction would go to the last one that rolled off the production line and still exists. If what they are saying is true, it might be one of the freshest examples. Also, they need to work in the phrase "old school" in a few more times to make the listing really pop.

It's a shame somebody decided to preserve a 928 with quite possibly the least desireable colour combination in the history of the 928 production cycle.

Sad really that no one got to enjoy using the car as a car. Like having a Trophy wife but she ALWAYS sleeps in her seperate bedroom, ALWAYS But you can show off to your friends....Look what I got but no I never drive it !

"THE 928S4's AND THE ULTRA EXPENSIVE 928 GTS's ARE A DIME A DOZEN COMPARED TO THIS CAR !!!"

Really? What about the three GTS' that he's selling claiming...

"One of only 44"
"Super Rare"
"THIS IS THE RAREST 928 GTS IN THE COUNTRY OUT OF 466 CARS IMPORTED!!!"

So we are to believe that this 1983 is uber rare? Given that only 2,904 GTS were made between 1992-95 and there were 8,315 928s' built between 1980-83, I think not.

Nothing like used car marketing bull$h1t.

That description is funny, but salesmanship aside....

Despite the fact that several thousand '83 and '84 models were sold, it is really hard to find a 4.7L S that is well maintained and in decent condition. Occasionally a garage queen goes up for sale but overall IMO the market sees many more nice S4/GT/GTS cars than S's.

I searched for over a year until I finally found a solid deal on a super clean '83 (just over 10% of asking price of this white one but mine has 159k miles).

The '87 and up cars are more desirable, according to what I read, and I suppose that is why you see a higher percentage of S4s/GTs/GTSs that are clean and well kept.

For me the unavailability of "what I want" makes some kind of restoration the only practical option, plus I don't have a "lot" of excitement over a stock early non Euro S motor.

Michael informed me he sold that car last week for asking price. Probably went to a collector.

No, that would be black on black, IMO.

Hardly.

White on brown is pretty undesireable - brown on maroon is even less so.
