Very unlikely the sender has failed, its just a reed relay triggered by magnets. next is to check you see the same open/close cycle at the central panel - forget the plug code now - there will be a post by WallyP somewhere listing it.
Not sure where to test on the central panel. Any suggestions appreciated.

When you say random numbers -?? Were you across the wires going back to the sensor? With a meter set to make a noise, you should get beeep...nothing...beeep...nothing. Nine times per rev or something - turn it slowly, with only one wheel up, the ring gear turns twice per wheel, IIRC?

On the CE board, the sensor leads come in at T1,T2; T2 goes to H2 and then 13R on the pod, speedo ground.
T1 goes to H1 to 2L on pod, speedo feed, and also to crusie control.
With T plug pulled, Check for continuity across T1 and T2 goes on/off with a rear wheel rotation. If that fails, the wiring from there to the rear is suspect - check each wire separately for a failure.
if T1,T2 is OK, check at H1,H2 in the socket with the plug pulled, for same result.

The plugs on the CE board go from A-Z left to right, letters moulded into the bottom , very hard to see. T1,T2 are both br/re colour. Also IIRC, numbers of pins are from 1 at bottom left...

Strange, suddenly my speedo started working today .

The odometer isn't moving so would that narrow that problem to the mechanical parts in the tumblers ? Not that I'm pod-pulling today, just curious if the speedometer working but not the odometer IDs anything for sure.

Thanks

Euro, my speedo works perfect, but my odo is starting to skip more each time i drive. resetting the trip catches it for now. i'm planning on pulling my pod when the temps here go above 15 deg.. sounds like you have the same problem. do a search on the odo gears. some ppl have mentioned needing to shim theirs too, just can't remember when this is needed..

No shims needed for the odo gear, just buy a replacement from 928sRus.com and install it.

Is there only one gear that breaks? My odo doesn't work. Can I order the gear with a reasonable certainty that that's the problem?

Or should I wait until I yank the pod out?

after posting the above in january, the speedo stopped working after one day, until today it started working again. also today, the volt gauge is now slightly higher, close to 14

any ideas what is magically allowing this to work again, and does the higher volts today rule out the connections on the instrument cluster?
