Interesting......I will revisit the battery. While it may be an issue, I am fairly certain its not my main issue. The car starts strong when 14 is hot from the jump post BUT I will definitely eliminate the battery from the equation with a new battery

I agree - if it cranks OK with an alternate solenoid connection - you have to suspect the switch or the connections along the way on the solenoid feed.

Have you made sure that the switch is actually turning as far as it should? I ran into an issue with the newer ignition switches and older key tumblers in the early OB cars. before you go diggin into anything to deep try the ignition switch with it unscrewed from the pod. if it works that way you will have to file off the locating bar and redrill the the lock pin hole on the key tumbler insert. I have had to do this on 3 cars so far.

Thanks! Yes, I have made multiple starting attempts with the electrical portion separated from the keyed portion. I am hoping to get some time today to clean the starter contacts and grounds from underneath as well. Keep all suggestions coming, I am soaking it all in. Thanks

Finally got to the 928 project today. Cleaned grounds under steering column, up front ahead of radiator and the lower chassis to engine strap. Also cleaned connections to starter and alternator. I also cleaned CE panel on the affected circuit (A plug and O plug). Car NOW starts with key consistently!!

I am not sure which connections did the trick but I am a happy camper!

I am now moving on to removing all aftermarket wiring and trying to diagnose the rest of the electrical bugs. I want to get a nice baseline before I disassemble for restoration. I also am going to address the lack of brake pedal. I want the car running and driving prior to tear down that may sound odd but its my we

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. Getting all the grounds clean goes a long way toward eliminating pesky electrical issues.
