Repairing shielded wires
I have to replace the ABS connectors in the engine bay where they connect to the ABS harness to the driver side brakes. The wires are shielded.
Is there a best practices for splicing the new male connectors?

Shielded wires/connectors
I don't have ABS on my car, but can give you some basic pointers for shielded cable. The point is to either keep outside influences (motors or other sources of electro-magnetic fields) from effecting the signal on the inner conductors or keeping some EMF from the (usually power) wires from effecting other local stuff. The best thing to do is ensure one side of the shield is connected to a ground. Cables are generally shielded with a foil and/or with a braided wire sheath. Foils should have a drain wire which is an uninsulated wire that would be the easy way to connect to a ground point. Braids may also have a drain, or are 'gathered' together to form an uninsulated wire for connection to a ground. If the connector is metal, it may have a spot for connecting the shield directly to the connector body which will effectively connect the shield to a ground point.
I hope that helps.
