Default Anyone know about an OB near London, Ontario?

My buddy has a 2002 Austin Mini and he wants to trade it up for something else. Well, he got an offer to trade a 928S. It's automatic, black on black, blacked out taillights, blacked out rims, not sure what year.

Anyone know about this car?

Don't recognize it, but there is a red OB at a shop at the corner of Hyde Park and Fanshawe Rd. Seems to be a runner as it moves around. The shop repairs and sells euro cars.

Do you mean Fanshawe Motors or Autobahn Motors? I applied for a position at Fanshawe Motors... lol.

Trading an 02 anything for a 1983 is usually a bad idea. Those added 20 years of wear, tear, neglect, and normal deterioration means it is probably not a car you just get in and drive day after day. Fun for a hobby quite a challenge if he must get to work or school on a regular basis.

If this is a straight up deal ask him if he thinks his Mini is worth around 5 - 6 K because that is what that car is worth. Interior looks really good and paint looks nice too but the wheels and tail light covers are throwing me. These items can be changed fairly easily. L-jet automatics (80-84) are pretty reliable however they are not power demons and are categorized as one of the lowest value 928's.

I know what my opinion is. I was just looking for additional info to help him make an educated decision on whether he wants to trade it or not. I know the 928 is worth more, but the 928 guy wants to get rid of it fast.

Well being that your buddy is probably tired of the Mini's reliability, trading for an old 928 is not going to be better. I have seen this car advertising before, nobody is beating down his door to buy it. If your buddy wants a daily driver than absolutely not.

I also don't like the black out theme, its slightly gheto, I wonder what else has been messed with.

Also 2002 mini's range from 7-10k, so if the guy wants to give your buddy 7k plus the 928, and if your buddy really wants a 928, then maybe.

I peg this 928 at 3k-4k max

Hyde Park Motors on the SW corner. The red 928 body looks straight, manhole wheels. Dusty on the outside.

Also find out about "Maintenance up to date". For some folks that only means oil changes, sparkplugs, air filters and brake pads. He needs to know about the cam belt and water pump maintenance. Just my thoughts.
