well, they are called a 4x3 and have 12 points of contact. A Torx will not fit properly and will destroy the head and cause you to have to take some very unplesant steps to remove them. Don't ask how I know that...
Has anyone used the above-linked triple square bits on the cam hold downs? I was under the impression just from reading on here that the HAZET brand triple square bits, which are like $35 each, were the only ones of sufficient quality to use on the cam hold downs, to ensure they do not strip.

While the best quality tool is preferred by me, the real issue with the cam cover hold downs, as well as the hinge bolts, and a few other locations is both the quality of the steel (soft, mild steel, weak) as well as the depth of the socket on the bolt. Poor design and very easily stripped even with care and high quailty tools... not to mention some of these are "over torqued" and or rusty, in some locations....makes for real fun, I have found several ways to mess them up and have had to drill out a few.....I did just remove a flywheel yesterday with no trouble at all, but I used a 1/2" air impact and a good quality 4x3 tool
