Default Multi-colored interior- do I have a franken-porsche?

Does anyone know if there were options for multi-colored interiors?
All pictures I have been able to locate show all black, tan, brown, etc.
My car came w/ brown seats, roof liner, carpets and rear panels,
and black arm rests, dash and consoles. It looks sharp, but I wonder how much may have been taken from the alleged parts car (1980) my seller sold prior to me purchasing this 1981. It might not make much of a difference, but as most of the bolt/screw/clip mounts are broken, it may be difficult to locate the proper replacement parts.
I know for certain the console does not match what the VIN calls for from porsche, so now I am wondering what else is different......

Porsche would do any interior combination stock from the factory.

Black and brown? Sounds like replacement parts to me.

Mine had brown doors, dash, roof and such with caramel seats with Pascha cloth inserts. Weird and wonderful.

That's kind of what I thought. It's no biggie, but I hope it won't make finding replacement parts a pain. For what it's worth, it is at least in great condition.

There are some options. The broken parts can be welded. Urethane Supply Company sells a fibrated plastic rod for about a dollar that is very good for remaking tabs and such. It will stick to any plastic I have found and can be applied with a cheap soldering iron. It is black but after it can be sanded and even filled. I also noticed that Eastwood is now selling a hot staple kit that can be used to embed metal into plastic parts to give strength. With a little effort you should be able to replace most broken plastic tabs.

As far as the colors it does sound like some one got hold of some extra pieces and put them on your car. In the early cars all pods were black. Later this changed. There are some common color combinations that Porsche used a lot. With the dark brown they used light carpet and seats. It was a nice combination when new. But as they aged the brown got a red tint and the light color just got dirty.
Another was to use almost all black and the add white, red or light seats. In 78 they had some very creative green interiors.

Myself I would either darken the brown to get the deep color back - find a newer Porsche with the color you like. Or make it all black. Of course if you are in a hot climate that might not be the best idea. SEM makes some great vinyl dyes and prep products. Their Landau Black has the perfect texture for an interior. You do not want a dash to be too shiny as the glare will kill you. Leatherique sells good leather and carpet dyes. they can match to any color. Re-dying the seats is probably one of the best payoffs for the effort.

Before re-dying the carpet take the bigger pieces or even all of them and have an upholstery shop put on new backing. The backing rots and smells bad. with new backing carpets that look wasted can be brought back to life. A new leather edging is a nice touch. I re-do my back mat so that it folds in half rather then drape out of the back of the car. it is much easier to move and get around in the area.

Sorry for the delay, but here is a picture Even though it isn't "original", I like the look. In fact, I've ordered some new door inserts from Jager Eng. black w/ brown stitching which I think will look sharp. They also have some kits to repair the door armrests and console clips which are broken. I haven't installed them yet, but I'll le you know how it turns out.

PS: In the background you can see the 1980 engine I bought off of the seller as a back-up. Can't have too many parts available.....

I have a multi color. I started with blue interior and when to champagne carpets, mats, trunk mat, console cards, and door panels. Much easier on the eyes IMHO. Too blue for Seattle
