Cool races today of vintage cars at the racetrack - BeaveRun, out side of Pittsburgh. Lots of Porsches. The winner of this 15 lap heat was Randy Beck, in a 904 replica. Fastest thing I've seen in a long time. It wasn't even fair...lots of 911's, stangs, vettes, beemers and other assorted goodies. The Big race is next weekend, on the road in town. These big cars don't get to run in it however.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting here is because Randy told me he is a friend of Mark Anderson. We talked about 928's and racing, and that is when he said he has a west coast freind who races them. I asked if it was Mark, and he lit up and said yes. So Mark, if you see this, Randy Beck says "hi", and he crushed the field today.

There's an article here about Randy Beck's 904. Beautiful car.

Thanks for posting Mark. Here are a couple of pictures from today. Randy is the thin guy with the dark hair and black t-shirt - this is just after the race.

Haha
Randy has the most amazing car control. He's a wild man but wicked fast and a talented fabricator. I met him when I bought a Beck Spider kit car 25 years ago.

You think Randy is a wild man?...do not take a ride with his father Chuck.....did it once a long time ago, not likely to do it again....

it was really something to watch that race and Randy. Knowing nothing about him or the car (altho I had a good chat with him beforehand in the paddock area), it was obvious that he was in a different class.
