The #1 measurement consistent between Chevy / Ford engines when discussing small block vs. big block is bore spacing. Which the 928 engine is equivalent to a 502 Chevy big block.

So now when I open the hood, I can say it is "an all-aluminum, overhead-cam, high-compression, big-block V8?"

You're right, Matt. It was Volo, not Fourney.

Your good until they ask how big is it Then you have to say but but it COULD be as big as 6.5 which as was mentioned is small block territory and when you say it is a 273 cu inch or 300 cu inch( five liter ).....not so good

A guy in San Diego has put 4 valve Porsche heads on a real Chevy Big block ! Been discussed here before car old hotrod was at a Sharktoberfest several years ago.
Some liked to refer to the 4valve heads as being HEMI heads as they are somewhat Hemi but due to the valves are morea pentroof.

Ive seen a V8 Pacer drag car at budds creek in MD that people laughed at but it sent about 4 people home before losing Bracket Et that night.
Then Im sure many french pacers were purchased because of this ad..

Well...this short Pacer documentary is quite interesting. There are a lot of parallels with the 928 (except the Pacer initially had waiting lists for buyers). The commercial ("Oh my God...it's so wide") is 70s innuendo funny.
