that is what practice is for Richard!
I wouldnt do it with my e-brake, unless I was converted to a hydraulic e-brake. Doing the brake feint is not a problem for me.

Am well practiced at rotating into a 4 wheel drift headed towards the apex. Kinda shy away from turning that into a 180

Richard,
Instead of doing the brake feint, or handbrake turn, why not just drive past the cone, throw it in reverse and do a reverse 180?

I can do that? There is usually a limited space past the cone. Wonder which method would be the fastest.

well I dont see why you couldnt do that. I've not seen anything that says you couldnt do a reverse 180 at any autocrosses..................

As to whats fastest, depends on your skill level, and what you are able to respond to the fastest. I'm sure you would get some pretty interesting views from the other people at the track.

Why not set up some cones in a parking lot and then have someone time you and try both methods?
The thing is for the handbrake turn most need to stop the slide prior to getting on the gas. This increases time. But a reverse 180, you come to a stop as fast as possible, then backup on the other side of the cone, your slide then is done at speed (R to 2nd) so you just take a hair longer for the gear change.

Haven't you seen the Ken Block stuff. You don't have to come to a stop to change direction with the handbrake turn where with the reverse 180 you would stop and try to accelerate in reverse before doing the 180.

yes, but we arent talking about a AWD car, or someone with Ken Block's skill set are we.
Also factoring in tire wear..... How many sets of tires do you think he goes through in an afternoon?

180 ! ha I did a 360 at 70-80 mph on a race track , and have it on camara ! ( it was unintended) not a scratch on the 928 , did it all with power and a little bump on the track.
