Awsome car. I researched them for years as I just love them. From what I have learned, when you punch it, you can almost watch the gas needle move down. They also say that the manual is oh so much more fun but they are true super cars. Man they were way above 20k for many years. They have just started to come down where folk can afford them.
Good luck with it,

Yours is just beautiful by the way... sorry didn't mention it in the first post. My other car is a black/tan e39 530 and I love it almost as much as the shark....

Yeah everything is electric and kind of a pain, electric shocks and all. The PO didn't know what he was doing and couldn't afford to fix things, so it needs a little love. But we got a good price as the kid that owned it was already underwater on it. My father flew down to get it and should've flown back without it, but oh well gives me something else to work on.
There were only 1200ish (something like 120 shipped to the US) made of the late 5.4 v12 M73 motored cars and unless its a CSi its an automatic. The early ones 1991 to 1994 are relatively easy to find though usually in rougher shape.
Frank, I have a 1997 528i 5-spd with 145k miles as my daily driver. Still get 33 MPH on the highway with it.

33 mph on the highway would be quite an impediment to the other traffic wouldn't it?

Curt, congrats on the 850! Looks awesome. I've always liked that car. Probably because it looks like the 928. I have 2 bimmers, wife's 325i and my 530i. Both awesome cars. Well done.
My ideal garage would have the 928 (of course), Ferrari 308 and the BWM 850. Now I just need to win the lottery to buy the cars and build a garage to put them it.

Yes my hands don't fit well into either car. Did the fuel filter last night on the 850 and have the cuts to prove it. On to the spark plugs and checking into the caps. Seems to have a hesitation at 4500 rpm takes for ever to climb to 60.

I sure like that 5 speed 928. I never realized how close our cars are. The rolling looks great. I did mine with pvc pipe and a lot of heat. My car is also pretty loud. The only thing different is the interior color and yours has less miles. Do you have Lsd? Edit, I guess I just saw the answer in your profile.

Funny, this just popped up on Craigslist here in DC: http://annapolis.craigslist.org/cto/3123920000.html $6k seems crazy low, but then again, so do 928 prices.

Very nice, now the mod's start ! you need to
update the front, get the late model front Valance.
I think they make a different/deeper one for the rear
as well.
Oh, and maybe some 18" Alpina's Too
