Air temperature sensor - HVAC
A few days back I saw an article about replacing the air temperature sensor in the dashboard. I thought I had printed it out but now I can't find it; when you are as old as I am, it is easy to forget to do such simple things as putting your teeth in your mouth in the morning. Can anybody direct me to that or some other similar instructions. I've checked the search area and can't seem to find it there. Thanks

Main thing is to search for a write-up on removing the center console. This is more difficult on airbag cars due to a pretty much inaccesible bolt on the right side. Regardless, the CC needs to come out to get to the back of the sensor (it's held in from the back).
While you have the CC out, you should check your HVAC vacuum lines and actuators, since they will be relatively easy to replace if needed at that point. (YMMV, but the comb flap actuator seems to be a common failure item.)

I did it a month ago. It's a 45 min job. The idea is to free up the center console just enough to access the tie wrap holding the sensor lock cylinder.
PS I assume you don't have an air bag...
-Remove the center console side panels
-Remove the glove box cover and cavity (take note of the lock position for an easier re-install) and unscrew all visible srcews/bolts
-Free up the center console driver side in the same manner
-Remove the shift handle and free up the shift cover from the handle stick
-Undo the center console making your way along both sides of it...at this step it should be free enough for accessing the sensor without removing the radio/vent control/etc.
-Unplug the sensor cable (I believe there is 2 connectors)
-Cut the tie wrap and separate the sensor
Re-install is the reverse of removal! I would not try to squeeze the sensor lock too hard on the dashboard to ensure cockpit temperature variations don't break it.

before you remove the console simply trace the wires .
Find the harness with the correct colors then pull the connector apart then put the OHM meter on the wires,
blow into the sensor hole if you see the resistance change the sensors working,
To get to the harness remove the right hand side console cover the harness should be close to that area.
Reference the WSM for the sensor wire colors.
Usually the sensor in the left fender is the one thats not working,
and the connector is usually the part thats gotten corroded,
and thus the outside sensor wont be connected .
So work from the outside sensor first
