Need a hand figuring out O2 sensor replacement
1986.5 928S
New exhaust system on Friday with new O2 sensor.
The guy said that "one of the leads" from the old sensor was not connected.
He installed new sensor, and stuffed the 4 leads from the new sensor into the hole into the body by the fuse block, for me to connect later.
Trying to do that now.
He did not give me back the instructions/Bosche paperwork that came with the sensor.
The shop manual shows only one lead at the O2 sensor connector by the fuse block. And that is all that I'm finding at the connector.
I have a new Bosche 15735 sensor with 4 leads.
I did not see the old sensor or how many leads it had.
Dont know how to reconcile the 4 leads from the new sensor with the one lead at the O2 connector by the fuse block.

- '85 and newer US 928's all have 3-wire O2 sensors, not 4-wire ones
- From your post, I would recommend you get the O2 sensor that is designed specifically for the 928 and is a direct fit, like this one:

The connection in the CE area should be a 3-pin round plug (2 male, 1 female pins, or vice-versa, depending on which half of the plug you're looking at). These are heater power, heater ground, and signal. Signal ground happens through the body of the sensor and its mount to the exhaust system (which seems odd to me). To use a 4-wire, I think you would need to run a new signal ground line for it to MP IX. (under the FPR on an '88 - not sure if it's the same location on an S3).

85 and 86 32v cars use a different sensor to the 87 to 95 cars
You need 928 606 128 00 Bosch 13 918 ($99 our price)
87 to 95 use 928 606 128 01 Bosch 13 048 ($103 our price)
15735 is a universal sensor but IIRC it only has three wires.
