Today it was announced that the Dutch Utrecht will ban diesel cars older than 8 years and petrol cars older than 12 years for reasons of emmision. Wonder what ity is next and how this will work out for popularity of old cars. Very hard to sell. For instance my situation. i won't be able to visit my daughter with the 928 and I just sold my 10 year old Passat diesel otherwise I could't go there at all. This will be effective from 2015.

That's a ridiculous plan, 8 year old diesel cars in the year 2015 (meaning cars built in 2007) are mostly equipped with DPF (diesel particulate filters) and cleaner than most other cars.

I can image they want to ban 30 year old smoking diesels, but I think thid is just another left-wing environmentalist idea which will be difficult to implement.

They should focus on improving public transportation if they want to reduce the number of cars in the city.
