Is there any good place to get an etching of the US VIN on an 84US? My car is currently not registered so I can't drive it to the DMV, so I either need an etching of the VIN or have to pay a notary to come verify it. The only good etching spot is on the passenger fender, but that's the factory VIN with ZZZ instead of the country code, the driver's door sticker is too flat, and the a-pillar is not accessible. Any where else I could try? Thanks!

Here in Nevada the DMV will issue a tempory registration, for independent smog test, and Vin checking done at the DMV office. It's free too, and I think they give you 2 weeks to get it done. They collect the fees when you register your car. Doesn't your state have something similar?

Good point. I just spoke with them and while PA does not do that, I may have another option. I brought the car into PA from Jersey and it still has a NJ title. She told me I can get a 2 wk temp from the NJ DMV to take care of flipping it to a new state if I show them the title and my PA ID. I know a couple high-ups at the NJ DMV too, so that could be my out. Thanks for the reply.
